Kino Shorts 45 – Wed 29th Jan at 3MT Manchester

Kino Shorts is back up and running for 2014 with the first event this WED at the Three Minute Theatre, with a fantastic line up which is going to command a capacity audience. Those coming should be early to be sure of getting a seat. Top of the bill is the world premier of Mike Clarke’s latest short Paper and Plastic in which a successful buisnessman returns home from his father’s funeral only to realise that there is much more to life that just making money.

Also screening is Tortured directed by Chris Green, also receiving its premier at Kino Shorts, a story of a discharged soldier with nothing left in his life; Debut, directed by Mike Staniforth about Thomas who will perform his very first magic show; The Deal is a film by Leon Henriques, an underdog story as two rivals face off in a poker game; Bones of Contention is a made for TV documentary by Paul Vernon Lydiate, about an archaeologist who researches the strange history of a skeleton discovered in the 1890s; and finally Autre Palillion, and experimental short film by Dan Jagger.

There’ll be the almost obligatory short Q&A’s with the filmmakers after each film with networking sessions during the intermission and after the final film. There is off course a licenced bar open throughout the ngiht for a wide range of drinks and snacks. For more details see the Facebook event page here and don’t forget to join our Kino Shorts group page to keep up to date of our events..

Footnote: Did you know that Kinofilm has been screening short films in Manchester since 1994 – yes, that’s 20 years of short film, pop-up screenings and short film festivals. WE believe that is something to be proud of and we will be celebrating this year with the 12th edition of Kinofilm, Manchester International Short Film Festival, taking place 4th – 8th June and we are open for submissions now. Please see the Festival Submissions page for more details.
